Goa Baga Beach

Baga on the Beach
Baga is situated on the north end of Calangute, carpeted with clean brown sand. Caressed by turquoise blue waves, Baga is a better option for those wishing to enjoy some restful moments if the hustle and bustle of Calangute is not in their list of things. It is a fishing beach with international tourists marinating in the sun and domestic visitors paddling. There is the grove of palms that comes fairly close to the water's edge.

The Baga River flows down one side of it offering a pleasant diversion for children and those who love the water but can't risk the rip currents that swirl round the mouth. Where the river and the sea meet, and on the far right bank, there is a group of black rocks against which the sea crashes in dramatic explosions of spray. An attractive estuary can be waded at the low tide, the walk round the headland leading to Anjuna beach. Early risers may see fishermen returning with their catch.

Where to Stay
If you travel to Goa, you need not worry about accommodation. There are plenty of guesthouses and hotels in Baga and nearby Calangute. One planning a longer stay should look out for 'To Let' signs, as there are plenty along the back lanes.
