Travel to North Goa
Northward Ho!
Goa is one of India's prime tourist destination, thanks to its picturesque location on the Mandovi River. Goa is wedged between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats, and the giant states of Maharashtra and Karnataka engulfing it on three sides. A picture perfect holiday destination, Goa is caressed by the blue rolling waves of the Arabian Sea and has a picturesque, exotic and sun kissed 120 kms long coastline.
If you are seeking respite from the monotonous everyday existence, then travel to Goa. And if the sun, sea and sand combination are your idea of having a jolly good time, north Goa offers the best - dazzling coastline, magnificent palm tree-lined beaches, appealing atmosphere for relaxing and swimming. Or you can just watch captivating golden sun drop on the horizon.
North Goa is adorned by some of the finest beaches in the state, kissed by the passionate, azure sea and embraced by the land and shaded by swaying palms.
CALANGUTE beach (16 kms from Panaji) is the most popular holiday resort in Goa. Excellent accommodation facilities are available, particularly at the tourist resort and cottages.
BAGA beach (18 kms. from Panaji) is a wonderful 7 kms. stretch along the coastal North Goa. Accommodation including star hotels are available throughout this stretch.
ANJUNA beach (18 kms from Panaji) is a popular beach area adjacent to Chapora fort. In Anjuna there is magnificent Albuquerque mansion built in 1920, flanked by octagonal towers and attractive Mangalore tiled-roof.
CANDOLIM beach is perfect for those seeking solitude. Though there is not much of facilities here, good food and a long and straight beach backed by scrub-covered dunes with shelter makes up for it.
VAGATOR and CHAPORA beaches (22 kms from Panaji) overlooked by the 500-year-old Portuguese fort are yet to be disturbed by the hustle and bustle of tourist traffic.
SINQUERIM (16 kms. from Panaji) is the southern most beach of the Calangute stretch. This beach has good accommodation and water sports facilities.
ARAMBOL beach (50 kms from Panaji) is a unique beach in the North Goa. It is a rocky and sandy beach and much sought after. It has a sweet water pond right on the shore and is still unspoilt in comparison to other beaches.
Apart from its breathtakingly beautiful beaches, North Goa has other attractions of significance. The countryside is dotted with fishing villages, luxurious old estates, ancient temples & forts. And there are cathedrals & plazas lingering with its strong Portuguese architectural heritage.
