Amber Fort in Jaipur

While you are traveling in Jaipur, a must halt is the Amber Fort. The renowned Amber Fort is a lot more than a splendid fort. Set in a picturesque location little away from Jaipur, Amber Fort is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. The Amber Fort was built in the 16th century by Raja Man Singh. The construction of the Amber Fort was started by Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by his descendant Jai Singh I. The rugged forbidding exterior of Amber Fort belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds its ultimate refinement. Painted scenes of hunting and war adorn the walls of the Amber Fort with precious stones and mirrors set into the plaster.

The old township of Amber lies at the foothills of the Amber Fort and has an old world charm, a character of its own. Jagat Shiromani temple, Narsingh temple and Panna Meena Ki Baodi are some of the places of an old world atmosphere worth visiting.
