Deogarh Mahal, Rajasmand

If you are planning to travel to Rajasthan, Deogarh Mahal in Rajasmand is one of the best heritage hotels in Rajasthan. Deogarh Mahal is an imposing structure built in the 17th century. It stands atop a hill and offers a commanding view of the Aravalli mountain range and the numerous lakes, strewn across the countryside. With its graying battlements, domes, turrets, jharokhas and huge gateways, it is a picturesque sight from the town below. At a height of about 2100 ft above sea level, it is cooler than surrounding Rajasthan. Built in 1670 A.D. by Rawat Dwarka Dasji as a family residence; it soon became the hub of village activity. The family interacted with the villagers and invited a host of feasts and festivities to be performed within the Deogarh Mahal precincts. Some of these traditions are still practiced. And the gates, that always remained closed, to ward off enemies, are now open to the guests.

The hotel has 40 rooms - 2 Royal Suites and 4 Deluxe Suites 34 Deluxe and a mini bar. Each room is comfortably elegant, with attached bathrooms fitted with modern amenities. All restorations and alterations on the Deogarh Mahal were carried out, bearing in mind the old architectural style of the building. The idea was to offer the weary traveller, the comforts of today with an ambience of the past. Every room is reflective of a different era, Ranjit Prakash room Gokul Ajara Moti Mahal. Ranjit Prakash room dates back to 1670 AD, and the decor reflect the Rajput era. With its domed ceiling, the Yog Maya Mahal or temple room enshrines the family deity.

Dining

Food is sure to be the best at the hotel. Home grown fruits and vegetables, in-house milk products and oils provide a delectable and distinct freshness. You can also flavor typical Mewari cuisine served with traditional hospitality. The hotel also offers delicious seasonal jams, and juices made from fruits grown around the Deogarh Mahal. Swimming pool and a Jacuzzi - A swimming pool and a heated Jacuzzi have recently been built in the Deogarh Mahal premises. The swimming pool will shortly be solar heated. Ayurvedic Massage - A special team from Kerala is available to provide relaxing and therapeutic Ayurvedic massage. A new Dinning area has been built exclusively for the FIT guests. Airy terraces provide a splendid view of the ranges and lakes as one sunbathes, reads or watches the sun set.
